Virginia is at a turning point, that is creating many exciting advantages about how we discuss the aging process. For the first time in our history, the Commonwealth is on the cusp of having more residents over 60 than under 20 — and the people and organizations who serve older Virginians are being asked to think bigger, move faster, and work together like never before.

That is exactly what the 2027 Virginia Governor’s Conference on Aging is for.

On October 4–5, 2027, at Kalahari Resort in Spotsylvania, we will bring together Virginia’s aging network and its partners under the theme “Wild About Aging Well.” Our goal is not simply another conference. We want an experience that is forward-thinking, interactive, and shaped by the people it serves, including older Virginians themselves.

A statewide Steering Committee of leaders from across aging services, health care, advocacy, government, higher education, and community organizations is already at work. In the months ahead, we will be inviting session proposals, announcing keynote speakers, and opening registration during Older Americans Month in May 2027.
